Restaurants and Bars…there’s no shortage of them in the French Quarter, but the ones we love are like “Comfort” Food. Felix’s Restaurant and Oyster Bar rises above the sea of Foodie offerings in the Quarter, but what makes it a place that you’ll come back to over and over again? That’s a question that you’ll have to discover especially when the much more famous Acme Oyster House is right across the street. For me, it makes me feel the same way as I do about Comfort Food…it’s familiar, delicious, and ohhh so lovable!
Step inside the front door and you’ll be greeted by an old-school diner feel with Oyster Shuckers doing what they do best with a smile and shucking skills that you have to witness to appreciate. There isn’t a lot of flash involved just a simple feeling of familiarity and comfort that’s been nurtured for 70 years in business. Their focus on local Louisiana seafood and produce is apparent and so is their passion to make you feel at home.
And those good vibes will get you ready for some Oysters! Among their selection of classic Creole dishes, my favorites are the Bayou Platter Sampler (with generous helpings of Red Beans, Etouffee, and Jambalaya) and their famous shucked and char-grilled oysters. The entire dining experience never feels rushed or artificial, it’s a pure offering of comfort that just makes you feel good every time you visit. Get Location
